He traveled to Europe in 2006 and 2007 to perform on the Dynasty Europe tour with the Glassmen and Rhythm X. While at WCU, Matt performed with the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. He is happy to have been a part of the educational team for the Calder Trophy winning 2008 WCU POM Marching Band. There he performed in Scotland for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2009 and again in Sydney, Australia in 2010. Matt has had the privilege of learning from Paul Rennick, Jeff Queen, Allen Joanis, Bret Kuhn, Scott Johnson, Nick Werth, Erik Julliard, Lee Beddis, Chris Hestin, Tim Fairbanks, Andrew Markworth, Bob Buckner and Matt Henley among others.
Matt has recently returned from South Korea and is teaching at AB-Tech Community College and the Buncombe County Literacy Counsel. He enjoys learning languages, cheering for the Carolina Hurricanes, dreaming of driving a Formula 1 race car, speeding down the slopes via snowboard, and traveling to places he's never been before. And some he has. Matt would like to thank everybody he has ever learned from and performed with, for without any one of them, he couldn't be the educator that he has become. |
