Brandon Arvay

Board Member

A native of South Carolina, Brandon Arvay is an in-demand educator and performer. He currently serves as the Assistant Principal Percussionist for the Colorado State University Symphony Orchestra and has served as the Principal Percussionist of the Colorado State University Wind Ensemble, both under the direction of Mr. Wes Kenney. As a member of the Colorado State University Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Eric Hollenbeck, Brandon performed the New Literature Session at the 2010 Percussive Arts Society

International Convention. In 2010, he joined the Fort Collins Wind Symphony as a Section Percussionist. Brandon can be heard playing chimes and glockenspiel on the Steven Taylor project, “Letters of Liberty”, a production of the Classical Music Foundation.

Since moving to Colorado, Brandon continues to be an active educator, working as a percussion instructor and clinician for Boltz Middle School, consultant for Fossil Ridge and Loveland High Schools, and teaching private lessons and undergraduate lessons at Colorado State University. As an arranger/composer, Brandon continues as Front Ensemble Caption Head and Arranger for the award winning Boiling Springs High School Marching Band, where the ensemble finished 5th Place in the 2010 BOA Atlanta Super Regional and participated in the 2010 BOA Grand National Championships in Indianapolis. The group also won the 5A Upper State Championship for South Carolina, finished 2nd Place in the SCBDA 5A State Championships in 2009 and 2010, and won multiple High-Music and High-Percussion awards. He has also arranged for Brookland-Cayce High School, Blacksburg High School, Ninety-Six High School, and the University of South Carolina.

Brandon is a past member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, where he played timpani in the 2006 and 2008 seasons. His busy teaching schedule has included serving as the Tenor Technician for the Verdigris Indoor Ensemble, as instructor for the University of South Carolina Summer Music Camp Marching Percussion Clinic (2007, 2009-2010), and teaching the front ensemble of the 2010 WGI (PIO) World Championship group, Palmetto Percussion.

Brandon has a Bachelor of Music with Emphasis in Music Education and Performance Certificate from the University of South Carolina. He is currently a student at Colorado State University, working on his Master of Music in Percussion Performance.
